SailGP Season 2025

High-speed sailing, world-class teams - and yes, I’m backing the Black Foils.

I’m following SailGP Season 2025, and if you haven’t discovered it yet, it’s awesome! SailGP is one of the most exciting sports on the planet – a global racing league where national teams compete on identical F50 foiling catamarans. These boats rise out of the water and reach speeds of over 90 km/h, combining cutting-edge technology with sailing skill.

The racing is short, fast-paced, and easy to follow – even if you’re new to the sport.

How It Works

Each event, team race etcher other over the weekend, with the top3 for that event racing a final. Then form each event in the 2025 season they earn points toward the overall championship.

The top teams qualify for a final winner-takes-all race at the end of the season – meaning every event matters. It’s not just about consistency; it’s about delivering under pressure, again and again.

A Championship with Purpose

As a bit of a greenie, this is the part I really like. SailGP doesn’t stop at world-class racing. Alongside the main competition, teams also compete in the Impact League – a sustainability-focused challenge that rewards environmental innovation and community engagement.

At every event, teams work on a new or evolving project inspired by the sea – whether it’s reducing carbon, restoring local ecosystems, or supporting coastal communities.

It’s a rare example of a sport taking genuine action for the planet. Now that I like.
