Purakaunui Falls, Southland - New Zealand

The Purakaunui Falls, Southland

The Purakaunui Falls Scenic Reserve is a picturesque waterfall located in the Catlins region of South Island. The falls are located just 17km south of Owaka, on the road to Curio Bay.

The Purakaunui falls are easily accessible for the cark park

They are a short walk through impressive podocarp and beech forests. The impressive Purakaunui Falls drops 60 meters into a large pool surrounded by ferns and mosses.

Just a note: It is a long drive to return from Invercargill. Try to visit several places, such as Nugget Point, to name a few.

We got caught out by this.
