Mt Hutt Mountain Transport

Taking the bus to Mt Hutt.

If you love taking the scenic route, then the Mt Hutt mountain transport bus is for you.

The Methven Travel mountain transport trip has got to be one of the best ways to get to Mt Hutt. The views and colour contrast are amazing: green pines and snow, blue skies and brown mountains. It’s just spectacular on the way up – and even more so on the way down. We loved the mountain transport at Mt Hutt.

Watch the end of the video for the down journey. It’s worth it. If you are planning a ski trip to Mt Hutt, take our advice and use mountain transport. It’s so easy – it takes away the hassle and the drive up the mountain road. The bus can pick you up from your accommodation in Methven (you will need to check your accommodation is one of the stops – if not, there will be a pick-up point very close to you) and then they will drop you to the main entrance, Guest Services at Mt Hutt – super easy!

We have travelled and skied many ski areas around New Zealand and the world, and the mountain transport at Mt Hutt is as good as any. The buses are climate controlled and have a comfortable suspension. All you need to do is get on board, relax and enjoy a hassle-free trip to the skifield.

Mt Hutt Transport information

If you don’t want to worry about a full car park or the road conditions, Mt Hutt provides daily bus services from most major accommodation providers in Methven to the Mt Hutt Ski Area – when booking, you inform them of where you are staying. Alternatively, Snowman Shuttles provide daily transport services between Christchurch and Methven if you’re coming from further afield. To get daily updates on the road conditions, check out their website or the Snow Report on Mt. Hutt Radio (94.10FM).
