Still wondering if SEO matters? In this case - Yes!
I get it. SEO has had its fair share of reinventions – from keyword stuffing back in the day to today’s AI-driven, intent-focused search. But here’s the bottom line: if you’re trying to help people find something like “life insurance deals”, SEO still matters. Big time.
Why? Because at present Google it’s still the first place people go. They search. They scroll. And they click on what shows up first. If your website isn’t there – they won’t find you. But if it is? More clicks. More visits. More trust. And yep – more sales.
Remember this: The more ways you answer a customer’s question, the more chances you have to win their trust – and their business. It’s not about SEO tricks. It’s about being genuinely helpful

The SEO plan to rank for "Life Insurance Deals"
- Keep It Personal, Not Pushy. Talk like a real person. Write for people, not just algorithms. Strip out the jargon. Say what you mean. If your content sounds like an awkward sales pitch, you’re doing it wrong. Google’s smart enough now to recognise genuine help. And readers? They can smell fluff a mile away.
- Focus on Questions People Actually Ask. Nobody searches for “comprehensive term-adjusted policy tiers.” They ask: What’s the best life insurance in NZ?, How much cover do I need?, What age should I get it? That’s your content brief right there. Every blog post should start with a real question someone’s typing into the search bar. Answer it clearly. Give them value. Then help them take the next step.
- Build an Information Nation. Content isn’t just about keywords anymore – it’s about helping people make better decisions. That’s what Google rewards. If your site becomes a trusted place to learn, compare, and understand, you’ll naturally rise through the rankings. Think helpful guides. Bite-sized explainers. FAQs. Comparisons that actually compare. That’s what we’re aiming to build with CoverNZ – a site that makes life insurance make sense.
- Build a Website That Performs. It’s not enough to write good content if your site’s a mess. You need: Fast load times. Clear menus and internal links. Schema markup (FAQ, Article). Mobile-first design. Make it easy for search engines and humans. SEO and UX are now one and the same.
- Highlight the Real Perks. If you’ve got value to offer – shout it. Whatever your niche, know what sets you apart and put it front and centre. It’s not about tricking people – it’s about showing them the real benefits of choosing you.
- Publish Smart, Not Just Often. More isn’t always better. But helpful, well-structured, keyword-aware content – now that’s the gold.
- Aim for consistency. Target specific search intents. Create a cluster of posts around your main keyword so Google sees you as a genuine authority. That’s my approach: 30+ focused blog posts over 6 months.
- Build Authority, One Link at a Time. Here’s where this very post plays a role. Backlinks still matter – especially from relevant, trustworthy sources.
- Get mentioned in the right places. Share your insights. Collaborate. Reviews, citations, social signals – they all feed into the trust score Google builds behind the scenes.
Will It work?
That’s the big question. The life insurance space isn’t easy, and most of the top results are owned by big-money companies. But with good content, a smart strategy, and a local-first approach – I reckon we’ve got a shot.
We’re not trying to game the system. We’re building a site that actually helps people find the best life insurance deals in New Zealand – and letting Google (and users) do the rest.
