If you're an Apple user, this is a big deal!

We are significant users of both products. This announcement will redefine digital interactions on iOS devices by enhancing user experience, productivity, and communication in daily life.

OpenAI and Apple have announced a groundbreaking partnership that integrates ChatGPT across Apple’s ecosystem, including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Unveiled at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, this collaboration aims to enhance the user experience by leveraging advanced AI capabilities.

Apple Products

Seamless integration across devices

The integration will enable users to harness ChatGPT’s powerful image and document understanding capabilities directly within Apple’s operating systems. This means users can perform complex tasks without switching between applications, making the workflow more efficient and intuitive.

Enhancing Siri's intelligence

One of the most exciting aspects of this partnership is Siri’s enhancement. By tapping into ChatGPT’s advanced intelligence, Siri can provide more comprehensive and accurate responses. Users will have complete control, with prompts for consent before any data is sent to ChatGPT, ensuring transparency and trust.

Advanced content creation tools

Apple’s system-wide writing tools will now feature ChatGPT, allowing users to generate high-quality content seamlessly. Whether drafting an email, writing a report, or creating images, ChatGPT’s integration will provide diverse and stylistic options.

Privacy

Both parties have emphasised their commitment to user privacy. OpenAI will not store requests made through Siri and Writing Tools, and users’ IP addresses will be obscured. Additionally, users can connect their ChatGPT accounts to apply their data preferences, aligning with ChatGPT’s privacy policies.

Accessible to all

The integration, powered by the advanced GPT-4o, will be free on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. However, there will be minimum requirements – we believe you will need the newest devices and operating systems (from the launch date).

Additional premium features will be accessible through ChatGPT subscriptions.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “This partnership with Apple is a significant step towards making AI accessible and beneficial for everyone. We are excited to see how users will leverage these new capabilities.

This integration, expected to be rolled out later this year, promises new functionality and convenience to Apple users worldwide.
